PVC Raw Materilas Price Change
Some people think that eating food packed in plastic containers often will be harmful to the body, because these plastic containers will release plasticizer, bisphenol A, dioxin, heavy metal and other harmful substances.
1. Plasticizer
Plasticizers, also known as plasticizers, are additives that are added to hard plastics to make them more resilient and durable. No. 3 (PVC) is the most commonly used hard plastic plasticizer. Plastic containers made of PVC contain plasticizer. However, the No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 plastic containers most commonly used in take out plastic containers are all soft plastics, which are flexible and do not need plasticizer.
Even take away plastic containers made of PVC materials, as long as they are qualified products produced by regular manufacturers, and used correctly (for example, do not use food with high grease, the use temperature will not be too high), no excessive plasticizer will be released into the food
2, bisphenol A
It is said that the disposable lunch box made of plastic or resin contains an estrogen like substance called bisphenol A, which will seep out of the lunch box after high temperature and enter the body with the food. If the human body is exposed to bisphenol A for a long time, it will cause cancer.
Bisphenol A is a kind of chemical raw material. It is true that bisphenol A in food contact materials may be transferred to food. However, No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 materials, which are mainly used in take out plastic containers, do not need to use bisphenol A. As for the harm of bisphenol A to human body, there is no definite conclusion at present. For example, as for carcinogenicity, animal research has not provided convincing evidence that exposure to bisphenol A has carcinogenic risk.
3. Dioxin
There are also claims that No. 1 (PET) plastic releases dioxins when refrigerated. Dioxins are toxic and carcinogenic.
However, at present, there is no reasonable scientific evidence that No. 1 (PET) plastic itself contains dioxins, and the dioxins will not be produced under refrigeration temperature.
4. Other chemicals
Other chemicals used to make plastics may also be released into food. For example, a plastic container of PET material contains trace amounts of antimony.
Antimony is a heavy metal used to make pet. When No. 1 (PET) plastic container is filled with water, the antimony contained in it can be released into the water. However, studies have shown that the antimony content of PET bottled beverages is very low (well below the World Health Organization guidelines for water quality) and does not pose a health risk.
In fact, there are also limited standards for some chemicals in plastic containers in China. For example, antimony in No.1 (PET) plastic containers should be less than or equal to 0.05 mg / L.
In a word, we don't need to worry too much about the safety of the qualified disposable plastic containers produced by regular manufacturers. Of course, it's not good to eat and take out too often, for example, it's hard to guarantee the nutrition balance and health.
